How to drive it

Going straight at a residential four-way stop: first stop in the queue behind the car ahead + come to a complete stop again at the stop line + first come, first served: the car from the left, the car ahead and the car from the right go first, your car last

In the correct demo, you yield to:

Common mistakes

Rolling stop

Road test: automatic fail — L4 Stop sign violation

Nothing was hit this time, but it's still an automatic fail. At a stop sign you must come to a complete stop before the stop line or crosswalk, and go only once it's safe and you've yielded; going without stopping completely is running the stop sign, even with no one around.

Went before your turn

Road test: automatic fail — L2 Right of way violation - vehicle/pedestrian

Nothing was hit this time (just 5.6 m apart at closest approach), but it's still an automatic fail. The other car came to a complete stop clearly before you (in this demo, more than 1 second earlier), so it goes first; wait until it has passed the conflict point before moving off.
