Watch the interactive demoHow to drive it
70 km/h six-lane divided road with a grass median, two left turn lanes before the intersection and a left-turn arrow: hold your speed in the through lane all the way + signal left 100 m early + check your mirror, shoulder check left + move over along the taper into the outer turn lane + brake only once the whole car is in the turn lane + before turning, look right, look left, left shoulder check + on the arrow, turn left into the outer lane while the car in the inner turn lane turns into the inner lane (left to left, right to right)
Common mistakes
Slowed down before entering the turn lane
Road test: 10 points — D12 Too slow - before/during
While still in the through lane you slowed from 67 to 47 km/h, forcing the car behind to slow down too. Preparing to turn on a 70 km/h main road, keep to the speed limit in the through lane: signal, check your mirror, shoulder check, and brake down to turning speed only once the whole car is in the left turn lane; slowing for the turn while still in the through lane forces the traffic behind you to slow down too, and the examiner marks it as too slow before the turn.
